Yesterday I was involved into a conversation between two people from Lithuania and Poland. During the 3 hours they were arguing about the similarity of Russian and Polish language. One of them was a citizen of Lithuania (guy) and another one was a citizen of Poland (girl). They have reached a deadlock in their argument and decided to call someone from Russia and check where he will be understand anything in Polish. By chance they’ve called me
It was really funny. During the half an hour we were trying to here each other ‘cuz someone of them had a real problem with microphone. We couldn’t hear each other. When we could they were laughing because as they said I was speaking too fast and they could not understand anything. And of course I couldn’t understand them because of the quality of the sound. Finally we’ve managed to speak with the guy and he had say some words to me the girl wanted to check and I had try to guess what does it mean. I’ve managed to understand only one and simplest word. Then she started to cheat and give us the words that we couldn’t even pronounce correctly. The guy had to pronounce it to me and he couldn’t
It was something. So I don’t know weather it is true about that Russian and Polish languages has 60% similarity or not but I believe that I won’t understand someone from this country.

November 23, 2007How r things
November 21, 2007Hey-ya. Yesterday and all the last days I was (and partially I is) in a quite bad mood. What’s wrong? I don’t know. Probably I’m just bored. The work project has stopped to be interesting for me and we all working in a strong time limits. At the courses we have another teacher who I like less then the previous one. And I even don’t feel any progress in this direction. At home I don’t get any inspiration from repair we have almost finished. The weather is really bad - just cold and there is no any snow. At this moment I would like to have +30 outside. I feel like it’s time to continue my preparation for immigration. But before we had to settle our debt for repairing. But after that I’ll definitely continue this process. What else. Oh. I almost don’t get comments in my livejournal from my friends and I want to delete my account or just write for myself.
But there is a positive moment - finally I’ve downloaded a working distribution disk of Ubuntu and now I’m using it at home. But it seems like I’ve written about it in my previous post. What else? Nothing more.
Weekends and Linux Ubuntu
November 19, 2007So, weekend has come as early as nobody was expected and I didn’t manage to spend it with peace, quiet and pleasure as I was expecting. First of all we’ve made a several very important shoppings. That’s great. Then we have watched two parts of Harry Potter (yes yes, I’ve never seen it in english before) and yesterday’s evening I’ve spent trying to install latest version of Ubuntu (7.10). It is another story how hard I’ve tried and I’ve described it in my livejournal. But really it’s the first distro which has been successfully installed to my PC. Congratulations for me
Another story is how many attemps it has taken. Three or even more! Why during the installation process there is no any sign of that the system is in the middle of installation and the user is only in live session which is strongly recommended not to leave (or you’ll have to do it once again)? Why should I guess it somehow and press install shortcut to force it to finish the process? I can’t understand it. But let’s see what has this famous system in store for me
Just a few words
November 12, 2007I think my evenings during the last two weeks were not very productive for my projects. Today I’ve got some ideas (thanks to Ravshan) about how I can implement an urgent functions of VocRecaptor and I’m going to start it today (or these days at least). The income from ads has frozen on $0.13
The first!
November 9, 2007The first visitor of this blog was spotted today. The prize goes to lexa. Welcome!
Came back
November 8, 2007I haven’t written here for so long. That’s all because of our new project. It’s quite interesting but we are working so hard because haven’t enough experience in writing j2me applications. Since yesterday I have unlimited internet at home so I hope I will start to write here something interesting and more frequently. And I also hope that I’ll start to do something with my project. Or probably will start something new and interesting. Cheers.
Killing ape
November 2, 2007Yesterday during the about an hour while I was reading the story “Murders in the Rue Morgue” by Edgar Allan Poe I had a feeling that I’ve read something like this, with the same plot, where the ape killed people. But I still don’t remember what it was. Probably one of the stories from “The Magican”? I need to check it.
Some results
November 1, 2007These days I continue passing Brainbench certification. For today I’ve passed already:
Dynamic HTML Standard Assessment 3.97 94%
HTML 4.0 Standard Assessment 3.13 47%
Information Technology Security Fundamentals Standard Assessment 2.4 43%
Internet Concepts Standard Assessment 3.51 73%
Time Management (U.S.) Standard Assessment 2.98 34%
Written English Standard Assessment 2.74 13%
WWW Concepts Standard Assessment 3.54 83%
The most unexpected result I have in Written English Standard Assessment. It was quite difficult to pass because of lots grammatic tasks.
The worst score I have for Information Technology Security Fundamentals Standard Assessment. Honestly I didn’t know the answer for each second question. I’ve never been interested in this IT-area
I have to pass another 9 tests. I hope those results will be much better.
